Here are 2 quick vids that I did for a comparison. Wood is way too small though. Tough to tell which saw runs stronger.

I need to get some bigger logs.

Out of the box Oregon square on a 16" 3/8 .050 bar.

For a brand new chain, it needs some tending too.

The 261 looks slightly quicker to me. Off the roll stihl square didn’t impress me either, I like rs better. I like exl chain, nice angles on cutter and good hook.

I like that semi-skip. I got a loop of Oregon. I like it.

Mike I believe some of the very early Shelby GT500s got the 427 before they developed the Cobra Jet 428.

Those rumors were out there, everyone thought Shelby just lifted a 427 dual quad from an AC Cobra and put it in the Mustang. But my research has been unable to confirm that any were actually produced. When I put the 427 in my Mustang I had to modify 428 Motor Mounts, because Ford did not make any mounts to put a 427 in a Mustang.

(The 427 Side Oiler block has a different bolt pattern).

The GT-500 KRs were the real deal. The rest of them were 428 Police Interceptor engines. They had 390 heads and could not possibly use the dual 4 set up, it was all for show!

I put 428 CJ heads on my 427 (it was a low riser block), and with a 850 Holley it would have easily destroyed any GT 500 that was not a KR (with my solid lifter cam, headers, and electronic ignition I likely would have beat one of them also). It was a nice street car, with solid power from 1,000 RPM to 6,800 RPM.

Felt a lot like my current Supercharged Mustang (The Whipple Intercooled Twin Screw provides tons of low end and mid range power).

The big difference between that Mustang and this one is the gearing in the Tranny. The axles were not much different (3.50 vs 3.55), but the I put a wide ratio tranny in the 427 giving it a 2.71 first gear (2.20 were in the close ratio tranny). The 5 speed in the current Mustang has a 3.35 to 1 first gear ... big difference ... real easy to blow the tires loose!

I don't think Shelby ever put his heart into the GT-500s. He got real pissed at Ford when he learned that the 1969 Mach I was going to steel so many of his styling Qs from the 67/68 GT -500.

Conversely, the GT-350s, especially the early ones, provided real performance and handling gains, including his traction bar that did not hurt handling. The 65/66 GT-350 gave the Vettes real trouble on the track, even though the Mustang did not have IRS. His famous quote, when asked why the Mustang did not have IRS, was "there winnin, ain't they"

Cool. I am looking forward to trying it. Although I don't really have any issues with LGX. Works fine for me.
I am fairly easy to please.
The new EXL looks like a better built chain than LGX from a durability standpoint. Seems heavier. Kinda a cross between 33RS and 72LGX. I personally prefer the way LGX cuts comparing both off the roll. The EXL doesn't have enough hook for me. With about 5 swipes per tooth it becomes a completely different animal though and seems better than LGX at that point. Ymmv.

Saw some extra vids there, FYI, Ford NEVER put the 427 in a Mustang. A few Cougars, but never a Mustang.

I put a 427 Ford in a 70 Boss 302 Body, but Ford never did (390, 428 + 429, but NEVER a 427)!

There were, however, 427 ThunderBolt Fairlanes from 1964 - 1967. Would love to have one.

Let me clarify, I'm talking production cars you could buy, yes Gas Rhonda and others had 427 SOHC Mustangs on the track. I believe they were A/FX. These cars were Factory Alterds (classified Factory Experimental). Wheel bases were stretched, motors moved back, bodies lightened, etc.
So we have another old school bench racer :) Once drove a 428 cobra 70' stang, meh. Also drove a 427 70' Mach1 car. 9" 4.10 locker top loader. *s-words gits and will put you in a ditch real quick. 650+ hp warmed over motor with hi riser 2x4's and reworked tunnel port heads. Two speeds, idol and wtf?! That guy is currently building a 65' Car for the street with a 68' Boss 302 motor for a serious street car, caged, suspensions all set up. Looks like a fun autocross ride.
