5 cube race saw class. I picked this off YouTube. Not sure who filmed it. I think it's @shorthunter I'm racing against. 7900 threw the chain before I finished the next race

That's me running a JMS 372, should have run the @mdavlee 7900 instead

Both stock other than spark screen removed on both and deflector opened on 394. Holes under deflector are stock and about same size. 661 has oiler pin punched in for max flow. 394 has meteor piston. Same bar oil, gas/amsoil dominator 40:1 and same chain/7 pin sprocket. Different bars but both take 24” chain obviously. 394 was tuned to 13k. 661 cut first then 394 second. Averages across 3 cuts were 17.4 for 661 and 17.5 for 394. 394 had fastest single cut but 661 averaged .1 sec faster. My conclusion...pick what color you like lol. 394 has a little more torque... but they are so close. I like em both honestly. I do think a 395 runs a little better than both stock by feel. Haven’t done that comparison.

Saw some extra vids there, FYI, Ford NEVER put the 427 in a Mustang. A few Cougars, but never a Mustang.

I put a 427 Ford in a 70 Boss 302 Body, but Ford never did (390, 428 + 429, but NEVER a 427)!

There were, however, 427 ThunderBolt Fairlanes from 1964 - 1967. Would love to have one.

Let me clarify, I'm talking production cars you could buy, yes Gas Rhonda and others had 427 SOHC Mustangs on the track. I believe they were A/FX. These cars were Factory Alterds (classified Factory Experimental). Wheel bases were stretched, motors moved back, bodies lightened, etc.

Mike I believe some of the very early Shelby GT500s got the 427 before they developed the Cobra Jet 428.
