Any type of media will work; steel shot, small bolts or nuts, even gravel. Just take it off, dump anything out, add media and kerosene/Varsol, etc. and shake. Dump, rinse, dry and install.
Thanks. will gve it a try.

You can always justify another saw.

I had a tiller in the same shape. Gravel worked great for me. May take a few times to clean it out good.

Tried some nut then put gravel in and it looks much better now. Thanks for the advice.

I seen a paint shaker at an auction last sat. And joked about buying it. Dam i wish i did. It would have knocked the rust rite out.

Phosphoric acid, after swirling some bolts round in it, it'll convert any remaining rust in the seams etc to a phosphate layer, killing any future rust

Are they the same as the 5 h.p. briggs tank. I might have a spare.

Have a friend that had a rusty tractor gas tank. He strapped it to the rear tire on the riding lawn mower. Jacked up the rear tire and let 'er spin for a half hour one way, the half hour the other way. I think he used 1/2 stone as a media. Not sure if he used a liquid with it.
I've heard of a similar process used scuba tanks that get rusty from humid air being continually stored in them.
