As ol possum above stated. Side plate sharpness will cut those fibers rather than pull them off. Ever single log is a touch different

I am actually going to check my 32” bar and make sure it isn’t bent as that was the first outing I had with it. Chased my tail on a bent 36” bar that was acting similar before.

I find this sorta thing especially true in larger logs. That is where a sharp chain really shows up. The picture I added a few pages back showing the small file up under the tooth that’s what I was working toward was a good edge up under the top plate and into the top of the side plate. Only the very top of the side plate shears fiber off

It was funny now I think of it. The 661, 056, 461 and 372 never had a problem. I filed them all similar. I’m definitely checking that bar.
