OK I may be asking something that's already been answered but can't find it but I was wondering if you guys had noticed that the farmertec ms660 rings are very stiff and harder to compress than the Caber rings that I got with a meteor piston and cylinder kit I put on one of my saw's and just thinking about putting a set of Caber rings in my second saw with the farmertec piston and cylinder. Ya or na and why thanks guys.

It depends on the playing of your cylinder, caber rings won’t work on chrome, if I’m remembering right. I’ve never put the farmertec 660 kits in the kits saws I’ve built.

From my experience, and what I read from others, Cabers are favored over other AM ring manufacturers. I will put together a saw with a different AM piston, but order Caber rings to run on it.

Meteor sends them out with their piston kits.

Have you ever handled the farmertec rings the reason for the question is because I here a lot of people saying that they are soft but man it takes quite a bit of pressure to compress them compared to the Ciber rings witch makes me believe that even if the Caber is hard at the face of the ring that runs on the cylinder surface it still would be better to use than a stiff ring like a farmertec?? Or am I just thinking to hard??

Must be a different batch of farmertec rings than what I’ve seen. Those were pretty soft yet very brittle. I’ve busted a couple just flexing them.

Not 660s haven't used those.
But ft 268 272 372 piston kits
If they are from the same manufacturer
They have HY stamped on most of them
Have worn the supplied rings
Out in short order.
I switched to caber or oem
A few year's ago
The pistons have never given me any problems.
The side to side play is more than oem
At least on the 372s

Not exactly sure what you are experiencing with those rings, but generally in metallurgy, hard equals brittle.

Now are you running the Caber rings and oem rings in the farmertec cylinders??

Exactly and harder to compress Which to me would think that that would cause faster ware on the rings and the cylinder.
