Just got a tree service retired 365, it was a great saw for a while 3/4 years ago but it's been sitting in a saw box for at least a year and a half. Crew gave it to the boss for red tag issues that they haven't got parts to fix and he asked me if I wanted it for scrap. I haven't tried starting it yet or anything. Just curious how much potential these saws really have, ported or just mild mm. I know chain catch is missing, busted break band, and on/off switch for sure. The last time I had anything to do with the saw it was a screamer, but like I said it's been a long time and the crew it was left with is not big on even basic maintenance. So my question is, part it out and scrap it or spend the time and money to make it a good saw again?

To clarify I have multiple saws both larger and smaller with one going out to be ported already. So it's not a need thing just for fun.

Most of my saws are Stihl, so I'm not sure of the availability of parts for this model. Just got it today,, haven't really had time to do a lot of searching yet. But most of what I'm finding is AM parts

So far the consensus seems to be it's worth fixing, judging by everyone wanting it So far. How much potential do they have for porting, are they a good candidate or just minimum gains?

Starting to look like the next side work check is going for some parts. And probably some specialty tools.

I've run 28 inch bars oiled fine usually they wear a 24 for felling and bucking the 365 has good potential or you could upgrade to a 372 topend reasonably the 25.00 huztl 372 cylinders impressed me i'm sure a member would port whatever you like if you don't. these are very easy saws to work on i would definitely fix it if you have any issue's we can help you with it or one of these guy's will take it off your hands.

I'ts the same as a 372 so you can put a 372 p&c on it if you wish. It should oil up to a 28" bar, mine is woods ported, I work with a 20" bar, race with a 16" bar square chain & cranking 14500, slow it down for work tho.

Not really after a racer, but like anything else I'll probably end up doing it, because I can

Got a ms390 tore down right now for that very thing. Just haven't got everything I need yet. Ended up with 3 of them and seemed like a good idea to tear 1 down a see what I could do with it " they suck to take apart" but I enjoy tinkering and making this better than before,

I bet in 95% of the time you couldn't tell a ported 365 from a ported 372 in a work saw.
