I've got a 737 Deere that had a leaking head gasket in cylinder #1. Yanked the head yesterday and reinstalled a new head gasket, but it's still running the same. I haven't checked it for a leak again, but I assume my head is probably warped. This mower was purchased used and it has a new head on cylinder #2, but #1 is still original.
Question is, can I have this head resurfaced? Is this something I can do on a flat surface with some sandpaper?
Thanks for any help! Might just end up biting the bullet and buy a new head.

I'd take them both off and have them matched.

Thank you for your reply... Well it was running slightly better when we got done last night, went out and did a little troubleshooting today... Took air filter off and it ran perfectly... So, off to the dealer to get a new air filter. This filter was in pretty good shape, but it must have something in it. Will update later.

My fh500v done the same thing.tore the heads off and lapped them on a piece of glass with valve lapping compound.you can clean the compound off and check the progress.you'll know exactly when the surface is nice and flat.
