Stihl with the large "boss" the bar actually sets on is probably a better idea than a straight stud that eventually loose it's threads more towards the bar .In addition the larger hex nut as opposed to the earlier flat nut is a better option .The nuts get worn out on a high usage saw eventually so it might not be a bad idea to change them periodically .
One of my McCullochs,a 650 geardrive was showing partial damage on one of the studs .I made over length nuts from hex stock to gain more thread engagement thus solving that problem .

Have you tried this stunt? Remove the bar stud.Clean out the hole with brake cleaner or something similar.Mix up some JB Weld and pack it in. Then screw in the stud and allow to cure overnight.I did this on my 025. It is now holding secure.I ran three tanks through it this week.
