I've only dealt with one other redmax and it was a gz700 or 7000 can't remember. Wasn't a bad saw

Few 450 I seen with issues have been carb or the seals.

Fuel starvation? Is the fuel filter clean? You might back flush it to check it out.
Put a new one on when I started this adventure 2 weeks ago

Ex BIL bought a 460 at a yard sale once. Wouldn't run. Looked great through exhaust. Like new. Pulled the jug. Broken ring. That doesn't seem like that but strange things happen. Yours acts like the timing is off or the spark is weak or grounding out somewhere.

grounding out somewhere.
I was going to say the same thing, but he just changed the coil, spark lead and plug cap.

What happens when you SLOWLY open the throttle? Does it begin to falter as it comes off idle?

EDIT: Did you ever try different gaps on the coil? Mine works best at .45mm, which is 'out of spec' according to factory recommendations.

I can somewhat feather it like in the video, but it coughs, backfires and dies.

If changing the coil gap doesn't get it, then I think it may be a foreign object in the transition circuit in the carb.

Can you slowly open the throttle, stop moving the trigger and let the revs build and then open it up? In other words, getting it past the transition circuit and on to the main circuit.

It won't rev any higher before it backfires and dies, Iv even swapped back to original coil and it does same thing. Iv changed everything that can be changed, p/c look great, swapped in every plug I have, reset plug and coil gaps. What's the chance that the flywheel is bad?

Crikey, this is a trouble shooting nightmare.

You changed the fuel filter, have you tried sucking on the fuel line to see if you can draw fuel? Maybe a crimped line or something.
