I'm curious if an aluminum finished bore can dissipate heat more efficiently than chrome for a race saw application.
Every layer is insulation.

Bare bore will dissipate heat the best. But at what cost.

That is why they got away from iron liners to begin with. Heat, and weight.

The base bolt pattern dosent lend itself to bolt in transfer caps. Can't see a way to bolt the caps on without the bolts blocking the transfers.

Straight ports it is. Close em off with the sleeve, maybe feed a couple boost ports around/ above the intake.

Not start was the winner. Someone should still peel the plating off a cheap cylinder and run a bare bore for the fun of it.

i think youd have a hell of a time getting plating off and not having excessive clearance between piston and cylinder, unless u could have it precision bored to another common piston size that could be swapped over. i know joes been busy, not sure what ever became of this idea

The plating peels off some Chinese cylinders easily enough, maybe a big bore piston could be turned down to fit the bare bore. I wonder how a ringless piston would do in a bare bore.
