I pulled the jug of a customers 272 today for a good cleaning, this is what the piston looks like after 18 months of heavy firewood duty while running Red Armor at 50:1 This saw has not had an easy life, it was sold new in 1996 to a tree company and used heavily every day until late 2012 when a crush incident took it out of service. The current owner ended up picking it up for a song, replacing the half wrap (really all that got damaged) and has cut 5-6 cords a year with it ever since. As far as I know this is the original piston from 1996, saw does not appear to have ever been apart.
