recommend a degree wheel

I'm going to expose my ignorance here but what do you all use these for?

Timing on a 2-cycle engine is based on the position of the piston in the cylinder, relative to the ports, ignition, etc.

A degree wheel lets you measure this precisely in terms of the rotation of the crankshaft.

Important for guys doing performance modifications or measurements.

In theory the bigger the better but keep in mind it goes on a saw engine not much room to mount .It's not like you really need one accurate enough to arc seconds of degree.

I know it’s an old thread but I had my cousins kid make me a degree wheel on his laser. He will make more to sell on an order basis. He’s going to have 1/8 plywood ones for 15$ plus shipping and acrylic ones for 30$ plus shipping. Plywood ones will be coated to protect them. Will be able to get a 0-360 wheel or 0-180 then back to 0.

1/8” plywood one for an example in 0-180-0 version. I’ll post an acrylic one later when it’s done, he said yellow acrylic laser etched with the numbers painted black after etching.

He will be modifying to include single degree marks between the 5 degree numbered increments

Numbers are just numbers if you don't factor in things like port over lap RPM's ,port shapes etc .It can't get in if it can't get out .It won't get in if it doesn't have enough carb .Too much it won't do so well .The whole thing has to be in balance to work right .
