Yes, welcome. I've heard nothing but good about the 346. What kind of stove you using?

It's only a 345, but I have considered trying the 346 upgrade. I'm not much of a mechanic, but would like to learn more. I've rebuilt the carb on this saw and done periodic maintenance, but nothing complex.

My stove is a QuadraFire step top non-cat with outside air kit. Forget the model #...maybe 3900? I installed it in 2003, but had a smaller Quad before that. Good stove.

Nothing wrong with a 345 man. It’s not worth upgrading until the saw fails. Take care of it it’ll run a long time. I use one periodically

I saw a lot

Oops, my bad on the saw. I had a Quad steptop 3100 before I got the Woodstock in 2015. Love the bigger stove, but that little ST kicked ash!

Mostly mild winters here and only heating around 1200sqft upstairs. Once this thing gets going with some madrone it can easily get too hot in the house! I wanted a smaller unit like my previous one, but when we remodeled the bldg code required outside air and this was the smallest Quad that had it.

Speaking of madrone, this was the first driveway blockage of the winter. Right after thanksgiving. A partly dead madrone fell and took down another then they both hit a bigger one that ripped the power line to my neighbor's house off the crossbar on my pole.

Big madrone is about 20" and was hung up in a smaller maple down slope. Power company sent tree crew. Still need to deal with most of the wood. Want to try to mill some slabs and boards, but need to buy a saw and Granberg setup.

Rocked one chain and my saw became a metal detector today with another chain on the brush pile. Not bad though I rocked two chains due to unseen rocks in the pile and found one nail in two weeks of cutting on that pile I think fairly well off for what I’ve been cutting in it.

I got permission to cut on a property in November but had to wait till all hunting season were over. So started cutting a few weeks ago.20190114_084128.jpg This cherry was first on the list.20190114_092603.jpg 20190117_112410.jpg Then some oak.20190122_134158.jpg and another cherry.
This property was selective harvested for hard woods and theres ton of oak and cherry left around the landing that was just left behind.

Nice. Looks like the cherry trees I cut. They must have a weak root structure. Most all of mine were blown over by wind, etc.

I put what was left of one the top broke out of down. There was no solid wood just seemed like the bark was holding it up. The rest was like compost inside. Wasn't thrilled about that one but it was on an older ladies property and her grandkids played near it a lot.

Yup. I cut up a couple that had ant damage. Looked like pulp wood inside. Just left it to burn up in outside campfire.

Well the pile at home has grown some more off the same site. Getting to be slim pickings to get it out safely though. They re pushed the pile to compact it and buried lots of good stuffD82B1130-22C5-4C23-B572-CB5399BA9B35.jpegE6E35A65-C3F3-4F84-ACD7-F58A99C5582A.jpeg7F31244B-3451-4318-B86C-2D9C5A9671B3.jpeg

Yeah Ash. Mostly dead

I've had ash hop back at me several times. The limbs are more resilient and springy than most other hardwoods, I guess, especially the younger ones. I've also had it barber chair on me as well. Great firewood, though.

Here's some token firewood pics:

Yet another place we store firewood:

And my Irish wife before one of the fires:

And some verandas of the estate I took:

Looking at Slievenamon from the Commeraghs(where the estate spills down onto the River Suir in Waterford).

And our neighbour, Gurteen Castle, which is surrounded by the estate, so everything you see there that isn't a castle is the estate. The large tree in the foreground is a rather old Lyme Tree.
