Rebuilding The JMS 064

This is gonna be a thread I'm gonna be adding to all day....and possibly into tomorrow. I have a lot of hay down (just tedded the last spot), and will be raking and baling tomorrow.

Here's some of the parts our members supplied for this build.

I used Dawn in my US cleaner so it wouldn't discolor the powder coat. It doesn't clean as well as Mean Green........

Here's a couple of things I missed when I first tore this saw apart.

See the clip on the right? Bent.......and probably would have eventually came out.


The case had a hole corroded thru it in the bearing pocket. No telling what is under the powder.

Someone else has already told this, but I think this saw need a special name, not a jms saw anymore, but something related with how many guys from ope helped with parts and money!

Dawn works well for me in the USC.
Just crank the heat up. (55 Celsius).
It doesn't corrode aluminum nor discolor the plastics.
You're right though, it doesn't work as fast as the caustic counterparts.

I think it's fine Dallas. No stripped bolt holes. Bearings are tight in the bores. The patch takes heat fine (checked it with a torch from the inside).

Wow! I can't say enough about the guys here at ope and how proud I am to be part of y'all. There's a lot of hard earned money in parts on that bench and For that I am indebted to the good men here. I can't believe how bad a shape this saw was in but when Randy gets thru it'll be awesome. Thanks again guys!
