Back in the day I got to shoot 600 yds at Camp Smith as part of a High Power Shoot, not sure if they still do them or not. That is the longest I have shot with open sights! You had to be real careful you were on your own target! It was fun!
That’s more poking and hoping then long range shooting. Might be fun, but no way are you accurate at 600 yards with iron sights

Long range BPCR, it’s been around much longer than what most people call long range shooting these days.

ETA) don’t know why this came up as long tang originally

I used a peep at the 600 yds. I really like peeps.

Unfortunately, up at my property they have "antler restriction", 3 points a side, so you are really handicapped if you don't use a scope. It would have been real nice to have taken that deer this year with the Mdl 95, I almost did take it, but decided not to due to the restriction rules.

I'm a short range guy, as in 250 yds or less. One and only rifle now is a rem 673 in 350 rem mag. 225 woodleigh handloads running 2750 from a 20 inch tube.
My wife on other hand is the long range hunter of the family. She is a dead eye with her Bergara B14 Ridge in 7mag. Bi pod, titanium muzzle break and 3.5-10 leupold cds shooting 165 trophy bonded tips. So far accurate to 700 yds which is a long shot in heavy timbered north idaho

Wifes Bergara sub moa rifle. This is the second one after sending the first one back for warranty, factory could not get it to group less than 6moa and couldnt fix it so they sent out a new rifle, which this one shoots great!20191227_222614.jpg

Yea atleast it usta be until the reintroduction of Canadian grey wolf. Now elk hunting is extremely hard, usually requiring a hunter to p
Hike in several miles to even find elk sign!

Ya I get what your saying there. We have a pretty big issue with wolves and cougars in Alberta. Population of wolves here is extremely high, more likely to call in a pack of wolves when trying to call elk.

First time I've heard anything negative about Bergara. I plan to add a Tikka compact 308 to my stable unless a Ruger American stainless compact lands in my lap first.
I'm on the fence for a Tikka or Bergara rimfire to replace my Savage FVSR.

Nice. I have a Ruger M77 in 220 Swift with a 26" Bull Barrel. When it was new it would put holes in holes at 100 yds with Norma Factory ammo.

It has a NLA fixed 10X Leopold Scope w/AO.

I have put a lot of rounds through it over the years, so it is not quite that accurate any more.

Plus, it is the only gun I have ever had where I could not match the factory ammo accuracy. However, the Norma bullets were too hard for varmint shooting, just penciled through chucks.
