Hopefully mazda got their 2.3 sorted out by now,,, Ive changed out 3 engines. Mazd6a 3, 5 ,6 all round 2004 around 100k they start using oil for some reason,, people dont check it and Zoom zoom boom, odd thing is more standard trans engines went then autos.I swapped in ford fusion engines, you have to swap a few parts but easy.

Just razzing my buddy, we go back and forth a bit :zpong:.
One of the best cars I've had was a 93 Mazda 323 with a 1.6 Mitsubishi engine and a 5 speed. I thrashed on that thing hard and towed many vehicles with it, the gearing was perfect for the vehicle. I bought and sold 4 or 5 of them and had an awd protege I was hoping to swap the drivetrain out of, but I lost the space I rented for wrenching in so it never happened. At one point I had a red, white, and blue one in the driveway, I thought it was patriotic in a Japanese sort of way, my wife wasn't as excited about it lol.
I don't know if I have any pictures of it, here's one of a similar size Japanese ride I owned from the same vintage(or close), a 95 civic hatchback. Over 8k miles this thing averaged 38.56 MPG, fun little ride with the 5 speed and the 1.5, would have been more fun with a turbo or a b16. But the bikes took care of that itch.

Didn't you have a Camaro with a swap too.

No one checks their oil anymore. All brands use more oil than they should. I think its because of the long oil change intervals the epa pushes. We had an 06 3 and an 08 5. Neither used any oil but i changed the oil every 3000.

But your right. The 2.3 does seem to use oil. Have had many with jumped timing chains due to the tensioners being starved for oil. Especially the turbo one in the speed 6 and the cx7. Any of the fusion 2.3 that came in with low oil where just engine replacement. Too far too long with no oil.

it's funny you say that. First time I bought an oil filter for it they had 2 different ones listed and the bs splash shield has a hole for the filter but it doesn't line up with it:facepalm:
