Putting In A Shim In A Sthil

I am kind a confused about using a shim to center the crankshaft on a Sthil how would I know if I need to even use a shim or not fellas what are the signs that I may need to use a shim to center the crankshaft .Let me know fellas

Smack the crank with a lead dead blow hammer back and forth until it rolls free as possible. Doesn’t need to be perfectly centered, just close.

Are we talking 090 here? Some of those required shims sometimes, but they dont used pressed on crank bearings
