Smaller bores don't mind the compression as much as larger ones.
Hope to get caught up enough at work to be able to build the 359 with suffers to compare to this 357 and my other plain Jane 359.plain jane ran very well with around 180 lbs but this 357 is just plain wicked without any port work.

That's what I suspected - but even though most 371s had one ring, and the 372s sold in the US had two rings, it isn't really about 371 vs. 372, but about EPA version (two rings) or not (one ring).

This started before the 371 was replaced by the 372, not at the same time.

That's how most are labeled here in aftermarket pistons.

The saw model, not the serial numbers.

As I understand it, they went too far with rpm limiters, the carb became just partly adjustable, and the power rating went down from 9.2 to 8.4 hp at some point. I don't know when any of it happened though, and don't remember any details.

Thanks for the update it's funny as today it was running bad it wouldn't restart carb adjustment wouldn't help much
Now it's all stripped down and will get too the bottom of it next week
