So dudes I've been looking at getting my saw ported and been in touch with 2 different guys for the work. Now guy 1 is a legend and guy 2 is well known for his work but doesn't Polish the ports, my question is, is the polishing compulsory? The price between the 2 guys is vast however.

I like to polish the ex port, but it's not necessary. Some guys leave the carbide burr finish, some hit with sandpaper on a split mandrel. Your not gunna see any performance difference between the 2

I like to leave the carbide finish, which is pretty smooth.

Have you run saws from both builders? If you can, that might help you decide. Sometimes you get what you pay for. You are always putting food on someone’s table.
