Figured I would share my p42hp build. It started out pretty rough. Not much ended up being usable.

The cases were bad, and so was the 6 transfer top end. The cylinder could be replated though. I had a set of farmsaw cases that happen to be the same part number. Once tore down the parts were sent to @Glock37 for powder coating. Mike did a amazing job as usual.

I was lucky to find a nos 6 transfer top end for the build.

First step was to chase all the threads in the cases, and clean the gasket surfaces.

Next was getting the bearings on the crank. On the later p42hp saws there is washers to put in before the bearings go on the crank. I didn't take pics of this process .

Next was crank and bearings back in the cases. I put it in the pto side first, and then flywheel side. Once again I didn't get pics till everything cooled down, but here is one afterwards.

Next is the seals. They are pretty easy. Just sit flush with the cases. Then the oil pump worm gear can go on.

After that the gasket and oil pump can go on with the strainer and line of course lol. Then the oil pump shield can go on.

The clutch drum and clutch is pretty easy. Just don't forget to put a rim on. For now I put a 8 pin on this saw.

I put the piston on next. I debated about notching the piston to match the extra set of transfers. In the end I decided to do it as the later Poulan saws were done this way. Oh and @Mastermind said it was a good idea as well.

Seems like a no brainer. Less weight, better flow.

Hers a look inside the cylinder before I put it on.

The next thing to do is put some type of sealer on the cylinder nuts. In the future it will save you from having to pull the flywheel. If they fall off you have to pull the flywheel. I used motoseal.

Next is the Reed block. All the large p series saws are prone to leaking here. I motoseal the case before the gasket, and the gasket to the block itself.

At this point I already put the flywheel and ignition wire on. Next was the coil and handles.
