If you had one of each - MS261, 550XP, and PS5100, which one would you choose to get ported, and why?

I find myself potentially in this situation, and if I make enough off of flipping some of the beater saws I have, I might be able to afford sending one of the above choices to get a little grinding done to them.

That is a tough one...probably the 550, 261, 5100, in that order.

However, if you use one more than the others, that is the one I would port first.

I'd be most likely to modify the 550 first..not port.. they are awesome saws stock and it doesn't need much to be a screamer. The 261 can come alive but requires a bit of work. If I could only send one off.. the 261. It takes the most to get to really come alive.. but I'm just arm chair quarter backing it.

I like my PS5100. I have to have a bit of a light touch with the 18" 3/8 bar that is currently on it, though. It might benefit from getting a few extra bananas stuffed in, or since I am rebuilding a couple MS261's and 550 XP's right now, I could build up one of them.

I got one of the MS261's running, and tuned it using a 16" .325 bar this weekend. It seems to like that combination, but doesn't seem to quite have the torque of the Dolmar. I didn't run it directly side by side with the 5100, though, so that may not be a completely fair comparison. It did feel a little more nimble in my hand, but weight wise, they are pretty close.

I almost have one of the 550XP's together again. Christmas has been keeping me busy, so hopefully next week I can get it together, and maybe run all 3 side x side for a more fair comparison.

But, if I do that, would I then want to get some work done to the weakest feeling saw to get it up on par with the other two, or take the strongest one and make it even stronger?

I absolutely love the 5100s that @Poleman ported for me. My buddies who have run it can't believe it is in the same 50cc class as my muffler modded, advanced 026. That is even with the 5100wearing a 3/8" 20" chain vs 18" .325 on the 026. The 026 is no slouch either. It just needs to get a little dr treatment though.

Moobs says the 261 will out torque the 550. He's got my 261c-m. I love the 550, but I had to choose juan.

The MS261 is a different animal then the 550XP. The 261 will lug way down, and is very forgiving when the user is heavy handed. The 550 is fast........but sorta peaky.

gonna need a showdown randy lol
