Yesterday when I got home from school, I decided to tinker around in my barn. I grabbed an old blown up 562XP and slapped my 372 bar and chain on and sharpened it. Then I got to thinkin... what if this thing could run? The top end had a small amount of scoring but it had decent compression. We got a pair of blown up 562XPs from our local saw dealer to experiment on them. They have been sitting on a shelf for a couple of years now and I had to see if one of them would run. One of the two was mostly complete, so I robbed parts from the totally screwed 562 and slapped them on the half way decent one... There was already a little splash of gas and bar oil from the last time it was ran and the gas didn't smell too bad. So I got excited and set the choke, primed the primer and within 3 pulls I sheared a fly wheel pin:mad:. I remember I tightened all of the critical parts down when I tore it apart. Sure enough, the fly wheel nut was loose... I had to rob yet another part from the junk 562 and put the little things on the fly wheel that was good which took an hour and a half because I didn't know what the f I was doing. After that pain in the butt I put the recoil on it and then set the coil gap to .10" and the spark plug gap to .20". It was getting decent spark, too but every 3 pulls the spark would turn orange. I said oh well.. I want this thing to start. Gave the primer bub a few more pushes. In about 7 pulls, it fired up... didn't hear any weird noises. Another 5 pulls and IT STARTS AND FAST IDLES!!!! Revved it once but the second time I revved it it stalled, again no weird metal clanking noises. After it stalled I couldn't start it back up again

Time for a leak down test.

I know that this 562 has 5 bolt cases but is there any way I can temporarily prevent it from leaking? Just curios....

I have a video of that 562 firing up, but at one point I forgot what I was even saying.... kinda had a brain fart. That saw needs ALOT of work... It needs 6 bolt crank cases (215.99), updated carb (139.99), crank bearings, OEM top end kit (159.99) and many other miscellaneous items. I know I said it was a fuel delivery problem... I am totally wrong.... those cases are bad and I would have spent more on parts vs getting a brand new saw 562. Here it is

Welcome aboard!

Try to exercise some personal restraint, we have quite a few pet lovers here and not in the way YOU have been loving pets.

Looking forward to meeting you at a GTG. Got to meet your cousin and he had a blast running all the saws.
You know I was there too how do you not remember me
