Does Oregon make a semi chisel non low kickback chain similar to Stihl RM? Looking for it in 3/8 .050

I think I had one that Sondre sent me, but I don't recall whether it had safety bumpers or not.
I'll take a look, the loop is one of my stump chains now.

All those have the ramped piece next to the depth gauge though. As far as I know, there isn't an Oregon semi chisel that looks like RM. I'd love to know if I'm mistaken though.

Yes they do have a bumper link but they still are considered not to be ANSI non kickback safety chains. Just provides more chip raking. A little safety goes a long way especially with homeowners. Personally I prefer the full ramp chain for plunge cuts as a non safety has a lot of kickback during plunge cuts.

But hey I didn't know Oregon made a 3/8 LP skip chain either until a couple weeks ago.

The Oregon semi chisel I have does not feature a ramped link.
Forgot to take a picture.

I have no idea which type it is, never got into the chain markings lingo.

All my Oregon 72DPX has ramped links

And as @AVB pointed out, yes it bores very well in poplar, spruce, and birch and like him I certainly don’t consider it a “safety chain”

Hi Will,

Hobo here from the UK (Oregon Area manager and UK Tech Specialist).

The Stihl RM chain has a 'Ramped Depth Gauge' where as 72DPX has a 'Bumper Drive Link', both are designed to do the same job...reduce kickback but just in a slightly different way. Basically, both designs allow a smooth transition of the timber onto the depth gauge and cutter by not having the dead stop/wall of the front of the depth gauge to ride over (causing vibration and increased risk of kickback).

There is no 'direct' equivalent available in semi-chisel (although there is in full chisel - EXL)

Best regards,

Hobo

Yup! For cross cutting? It's also available in the new 70-Series EXJ (Ramped Depth Gauge). 72EXJ/73EXJ/75EXJ
