So, the throttle cable is frayed and sticks pretty good when cycling the trigger. Got it torn apart and I'm swapping the one from the old handle to see if it's better.

Good news is the old cable is good....bad news is, it's a PITA to swap.

I got that throttle cable swapped and the tank handle on. Starting to look like a saw again.

Not the best tank handle, but the alternative was like $150 bones for the new one. I chose the pre-broken in one.




And, boom...just like that, an air filter pic! Brandy new one too.



I've gotta grab a sparkplug boot tomorrow at the Makita shop. And, hopefully the kill switch will be off backorder soon.

We can still get some NLA parts over here direct out of Germany. I had ordered the switch and some other stuff locally, but it was on backorder.

I would think a European dealer could get the switch, they still offer the saw there don’t they?

Yes, we still have the saws available new, Gary. Some parts are NLA. The airbox grommets and choke lever are NLA and I do need a choke lever.

Thanks DJ. I bought it already just in case I don't find one here. I'm going to have my shipping company add it to those 2166's and ship together.

In the meantime, I'm just gonna twist some copper wire or something to get me by until one shows up.
