I just got done making some more cuts and I'm still not happy with the oiler.

The sawdust collected under the clutch cover and around the clutch area is relatively dry.

Not seeing a lot of oil output and I'm still running a 20 on this thing.

No way I can run this saw anymore until I troubleshoot the oiling problem. :(

Here's the baseline cuts...you guys will tell me what you think. I haven't watched the vid, but I think 500 has a lot of gaining to catch that Dolly.

EDIT: Both saws were running 8-pins.

I wonder what the problem is? My 462 pump oils a 36” with the pin pushed in. I haven’t done any serious cutting with that set up, but it flings oil off of the bar pretty well.

Not sure Pat. I flushed the lines and checked that nothing was out of whack. I put some bar oil cut with diesel fuel in it.

Ran it without the clutch cover and she seems to spit oil out pretty good now...took a while though. I'll run it again in the morning and see how it does.

That's a knotty and resinous piece of Aleppo Pine.

Is your 7910 stock? It's a league ahead of the 500 for sure. Every video I've seen of the 500 so far has been unimpressive.

I forgot to mention I sold two minty DCS-7901s years ago. They went to a guy in Greece also. He bought the first one, and was so impressed with it, he came right back for another.

Be interesting to see how the fallers react to them out here when they hit the ground with a longer bar.

Dan, do you think the resin in the wood may have played a part in the oiling conundrum?

Not sure, Ed. Certainly a factor in cut speed. This pine is extremely dense when it's fresh. So much so that an axe will bounce off versus stick in the wood.

Due to our close proximity to the sea, these trees tend to get extremely resin rich. Those cookies are going in the fatwood pile.

It's got some light mods done to it, JJ. It probably has about 8-10 tanks on it since the 7910 PC was put on.

I like the 79XX series of saw a lot. The 500 I believe will wake up a lot as it runs more. It feels strong even if the cut times don't reflect it yet.

How is the throttle response? in all the videos I've seen the throttle response seems a bit sluggish, maybe it's just because the way the 500i sounds.

If it comes close to the 7900 with less weight it should be a winner.

Nice thread BTW! thanks for taking the time.
