Starting to go back together. New seals, brgs cleaned and oiled. Still needs lots of cleaning once I get it sealed up. Old style tank valve has been weeping for years, think that’s why it’s so filthy. That and dry, dusty environment and wood.

Some pics I forgot from when I first dragged it out to use and it wouldn’t run.

Did you split the case? If so i would've changed the bearings they are cheap and very simple. Nice saw cant wait to see it run.

No, (fingers crossed) they aren’t old and I cleaned and inspected carefully. Haven’t gotten around to building tooling to split yet. I may have to on the 2159.

Check out this pitting around the coil. Shorting? Bad coil?

Also, on the tank vent...
Was venting slowly in and faster out with mityvac. I think it’s supposed to be a check valve and only vent in (vacuum). Saw was also filthy between case and tank which I think is due to seepage over the years.

Pic is old larger sinter plug that goes on the outside. Pulled it with a screw. Next to it is a smaller one that I assume goes in the black tube in the tank. That tube is straight thru now.

I ordered the outer sinter plug and new tube from parts tree thinking it would have some sort of check valve in it since it’s called a valve...it’s straight thru.

Should I order the new style as it seem like maybe it’s actually a check valve and the old style “two sinter plugs” seems like it was just to slow the fuel down...? Thanks!

No I don’t believe the older tank vents don’t have that “valve” inside. At least the one I have here doesn’t looking at it if I’m not mistaken.

Thanks...so they’re just a weepy mess? Do the new ones have a check valve? Seems like they’d just dump when felling if not.

They only weep a tad filling up I noticed, they stop when they are running.

Forgot to mention compression was 150. What should it be? It has very little hours since rebuild. Like maybe 1-2. Kinda doubt if I need to bother with rings. There’s a little carbon on top of the piston, not sure if it’s enoigh to flake.

At some point, I should probably quit inspecting...

Has that crack been addressed ?
At a minimum, I would stop drill it, prevent it from traveling further

Finally got the 395 out again. Don’t ya love it when you pull ‘em out and they fire right up and then won’t run once you get to the job? She was actin up all kinds today! Didn’t want to start, low power, stalling, throttle cable fell off, flywheel dogs didn’t want to catch the starter...

May send off to a pro for a going through and porting.

11C1BC2C-86EB-46EF-94EF-E3195B3BB358.jpeg Figured out why the throttle cable fell off. One of the little retainer tabs is gone. Pretty much all the plaztec inside this saw is dried up.
