Some guys at the AS site discuss this but no conclusion. This hole on the crank<pto side> is directly through the inside of the balancer. I flush the crankcase with gas and found out gas leak through this hole. It is said that the newer 3120 share crank with concrete saws. Also curious no air leaks?

I've had many cranks like that. I believe the thinking was that excess oil would migrate from the crankcase out to the clutch drum bearing and contribute to longevity.

Reasons being are:
1.- Demolition saw operators are terrible at maintenance on average
2.- The demolition saws ingest a lot of concrete dust which is very abrasive
3.- The clutch drum in a demolition saw is under more pressure constantly than a chainsaw due to the v-belt having constant tension.
