To be honest I am not sure. It looks clean, but the muffler it came off took a good smack from a tree, but I dont think it would have done anything like that. The guy I got that saw off of didn't seem like the muffler hacking type.

Copy all. I only asked because it looks like that cutout is going to blast your brake flag and/or clutch cover with exhaust. I would keep the opening in the muffler away from that area if it were my saw, I don’t like melting muh stuff...lol

Is that notch on the lower portion of the deflector factory?

My 268 has an identical deflector.
I trimmed off the little bent over portion. No melted plastics so far.

Got the top end put on, decals swapped. Cant found an extra exhaust shield so I will have to order one. Also going to order a fuel cap and some random bolts aswell.

Back at it today with some parts in.

Seal tapped into the back of the oil pump to match stock tolerance.

I usually use a thin sheet of plastic, stole this from a light bulb package. Grease it up and roll it over the crank. Helps slide the seal into place without rolling the seal on the step up

There is likely some variation of one. Either plastic or metal

No dust shield on the 262. The original versions had a thin metal flat washer between the sprocket and the oil pump, and then they switched to a clutch driven pump that eliminated the washer. I think the transition was around 1993 or 94.

Saw is complete. Muffler mod is done. Havent fired it up yet. Going to bite the bullet and buy the husky block off kit and do a proper leakdown test.
