So the FS131 is a 4-mix? Stihl doesn't talk about that in the specs or owner's manual. Do you guys think this unit will hold up well for daily/weekly heavy grass trimming and light brush cutting, being used by crews that don't own the machine?

Definitely a 4-mix and it should hold up just fine. The valves will need adjusting when it gets hard to start or at about 130 hours.

the 240 is a conventional 2 stroke too

They are all (FS 56, 70,94) 2 stroke engines with stratified scavening technology (Stihl 2 Mix), also the FS 240.

If I was going to get a 4 stroke weedeater I would get a Honda. My stepdad has had one for about 15 years. He uses that thing hard and doesn't take care of it, yet it keeps on going.

4 stroke usually weigh noticably more than the 2 stroke .

Has Shindaiwa dropped the four strokes? I was on their website today and saw no mention of them.

I think all Shin are now rebranded Echo 2 stroke as are the saws .
