I got information that stihl releases 2 new saws and facelifts the MS 201

All saws get a new "stepped" piston.
I have a picture from the MS 201 IPL that piston looks like a popup piston. (#22 in the pic)
MS 201 will be with M-Tronic 3.0 (white solenoid/new calibration)
Anmerkung 2019-08-24 002952.jpg

The MS 151/194 are MS 150/193 saws that were changed to meet the new EU Stage 5 Emission levels.

Sweet.... Maybe?

What's this new IPL piston and Mtronic 3.0 get me over the existing stuff? Some advantage to me or just meeting some emissions standard?

Can they be ordered with a normal carb like supposedly 261s and 362s can?

MS 151/193 are non-mtronic saws.
The MS 201 is only as mtronic saw available in germany. But i think they will release a updated non-mtronic Version for other countries.

The stepped piston should increase the power about 5-10 %.

One comment about the rear handle 201-cem. It generally doesn't receive many kind words about them when discussed here. But I've also never seen one for sale. I guess the folks who do fork over the money for them tend to like and keep them.

I love my 201 with a rear handle.

Are we to think all models will have a slight increase in power? You said stepped piston should boost 5%-10%. But the 151/194 have changes for emissions, so, hmmm, wonder how that will shake out. I am interested in 151 and 201. Anyone know when they will be available in USA? nohoff, has this new 201 with mtronic 3.0 been available in Germany already? If so, how is its reputation?

You mean when any individual dealer sells his stock, he can order the new ones or nationwide, in general, or how does that work? Weeks, months, years? Will they make a press release or how do they announce it, or do they?

They will announce nothing.
I can only tell how it works in germany.
We as a dealer have already one MS 201/II on stock sind 3 weeks.
Didnt notice it until i looked at the Sticker on the brake lever.
All MS 201 Produced in 2019 will be Mtronic 3.0 and have the new piston design.
As a dealer we can only order a MS 201 and see what Stihl delivers us.
I have a dealer in north germany that ordered a MS 201 last week and got an old saw from 2018. Seems like it is luck which one you get.

Do I have to ask the dealer for a specific part number or would they know better? I don't trust they'd know better.

I don't know what that is. Is Nohoff their parts software/website?

I see, a member @nohoff

Would be nice to have all the carb saw numbers on hand.

Could be a dictionary definition!

He is top notch on detailed descriptions as seen on the system.

The new piston has been out for 8 months already?
