It started that we were going to do a MS460 project, then realized it would make a great Hybrid, and so it morphed. Dr Al currently has the P+C (see pics) and I installed a OEM 044 12mm crank into an Asian case today. This saw will be a blend of Asian and OEM parts. The OEM will include the crank, piston pin + bearing, cylinder, chain adjuster, winter filter, and perhaps the coil (if it works).

The case, tank holder, plastics, oiler, clutch and most rubber will be Asian.

Al's Wizardry with the P+C should make this one special!

A little song parity to set the mood:

There's something happening here
What it is is completely clear
Dr Al ain't messin around
Tellin non Sithl owners to beware

I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
77 cc screaming loud

There's battle lines being drawn
Mason thinks his new saw is real strong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from old guys

I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Mike's new saw is screaming proud

I knew you would appreciate this Mason!!!

Hey, we got to keep this stuff interesting somehow!!!

But on a serious note, how does that new saw compare with your 460??? I imagine, other than the AV and looks, they are pretty similar.

I prefer it over the 1128’s honestly. It feels better in my hands. Just a more modern refined chassis. The power delivery is smooth.

No comparison to the 460's I've ran. Much smoother and stronger

Yes, but both his and my 460s are ported, which tends to level the playing field in the performance area.

No argument from me that stock 460s need some work. Often, stock 044/440s will embarrass them.

A 372 might not be quite as tough as the 460 but a good one hangs just fine in the 5 cube class. Still like them. The dolly feels like a 372 with more torque.

My MOFO 460 is the strongest 460 I've run, and I think it would be competitive with most ported 7900/7910s, but in all honesty I have not seen very many of them.

I know Jeremy had one at the GTG that was screaming through the cants, but it also had "special chain", making it tough to judge just the saw. However, I will tell you that the combo worked well!

And weight. I almost bought a HD saw to upgrade to 7910, but it just felt too heavy and bulky to me. But, we are all different and like different things, which is why they make different saws, so we have a choice.

The 7900 has a better power to weight ratio than a 064 on paper. Bulky and heavy didn’t cross my mind. The 461 feels about the same as the 7900 to me, but the 7900 balances a 24” bar better.

Weight if a 460.....14.5 pounds, 7900 makita.....14.7
