Never seen one of theses before...Stihl 038 intellicarb

Probably old news, but after playing with so many saws now, I was surprised to see an intellicarb version of a Bing carb on an 038.....Didn't know any had that?

Is that off a Brazilian saw Rob? I've not seen that either. I did see an auto-choke system on the 044C on a saw that came over from Austria.

I think it is, JJ....It was on a smashed carcass, but has a clear tank, so likely is... I actually took it off the carcass to replace a carb on a Brazilian 038 Mag with a bad discharge nozzle, but it's standard carb.

MS380 carb maybe? If the saw is an 038 maybe it's a mid production saw. Basically an ms380 but still badged 038???
I've never seen an intellicarb on an 038.

Mine is a MS 381 Mike and that doesn't have an intellicarb either my friend or does it

This is the carburetor with compensator connection. The changes to the compensator version were descriped in TI 48.1999. Some markets excluding the U.S. got this version. The Bing carb changed from 48A101B to 48A101C and got the new end cover with the compensator connection. Also the newer Zama C3-S148 carbs have an end cover with compensator connection.

Mine is the Zama C3-S148 put a kit through it 6 months ago

If the first number of the serial is 3 the saw was built in Brazil which is where they were built later in it's production run . There were a number of variations of the 038 during it's run .
