I have seen a few Helicoil coils come out or leak. I was thinking like a threaded sleeve like Time sert uses but the kit is about 170.00 I just need to do one hole. Any advice on what works well for you will be very appreciated. I am working on a MS 200T with a 14mm x 1.25 thread.

I was in Knecht's not too long ago and spotted a 14mm time sert kit for about 8 bucks. I haven't used it but it looks decent. They also have different length inserts.
Did it have the tap and installer?

Sleeve style option would be your best bet. Idk about your area, but if you don't want to buy the kit call some of the local engine machine shops for a price on the repair. Might be more economical to just buy one sleeve and their time.

Well I don't have 14mm. I wanna say I rented a repair kit from Autozone years ago. They usually have an assorted length of sleeves in them.

This is what I grabbed.

I'm not sure what else they had available. That seemed to be it besides a few choices of longer inserts.
I don't know if the inserts are worth a crap. The lip on them is very square with no bevel. I'd be forced to use a spark plug to seat the insert if I had to use it right now.

Lw....I have that kit. Will do it for you ....I owe u one. Send the cylinder if you like
Just tried it and its too long it bottoms out in the head! :(:mad:Either I cut the 14mm tip off and use it or try to find a 17mm x 1.25 blind hole tap and even then I wonder if it will clear in that little space?

Trim the 14mm section off the end would be my vote.

I was goiing to but if it wont work then I cant bring it back. Im thinking get a 17x 1.25 plug tap and see what happens before I hack it up . Whats the best way to cut the tap down that's some hard stuff ,die cutter then clean it up on sanding wheel ?

17mm x 1.25 will probably be a china eBay buy unless McMaster has it but be prepared for sticker shock if they do.

Its an odd size my tap set has a 16 and an 18 in it! Also needs to be a plug tap no room in there at all.
