Just a little about what I have. I have STIHL ms 261. It a good saw and I haven’t had any problem with her.
But I don’t really want to be noodling with her. I get free fire wood from a friend that loads it up with his backhoes day drops it off at the house. Some of the pieces I have to noodle has been around 40” I also get logs dropped at the house that I have to cut. I can cut with the 261 but take longer. Like the old saying is time is money.
Right now I’m looking at the STIHL 461, and husqvarna 372xp and the 576xp.
So what I’m asking is what are your thoughts on the chainsaw that would be best benefit me. It be next year late spring before I can get it due to a deployment right now.
FYI I do have both dealers close by with in 30 min from me.
Thanks
Jerriod
Ps here is a pick of some of the wood pile I have

The 371/372 is a noodle-o-matic. Run it with 24-28" bar and you'll have yourself a pile of noodles you'll be trying to give away.

Also J'Red version of those saws. I also noodle quite a lot with my 7910 Dolmars.

My 461 is still in pieces so I can't comment on that one, but I imagine it would do really well also.

Looks like fun!! I have several saws chomping at the bit!! lol I have never ran a 576, but between a 372-461, the 461 has better torque stock. Are you thinking new or used?

More then likely new. Money wise it would be husqvarna but I still like STIHL

Well by next spring 462s should be every where. And I've heard tale that if you have a 461 you'll want to get the upgraded oiler from the R model if you dont go with the R model to begin with. Or you could see how close you are to @T.Roller and run some of what he gots and then pick. Cause I know I wish I could of ran a few saws before I bought them to help in the decision making process.

And deployed eh? Thanks for your service.

I second getting a chance to run new saws...don’t count out the 572 either if your looking at Husky. 7910 is an awesome saw as well.
That 572 you have is an awesome saw, I’d choose the 572 over the previous husky models.
But still a toss up between the 572 and the 461, both great saws.

Just my .02. Depending on longer term wood gathering, consider a good used saw. Bargains on big saws come up eg like new Stihl 660 for $700. Depending on color preference, the other suggested saw are all good.

For noodling I use my 064 with West Coast cover. Clears the noodles good. I'd imagine the 7910 or the 572 would be good choices also

My 7910 has plenty of power to noodle but the clutch cover seems to hold a lot of “noodles” in.

I like the my hybrid better with the west coast cover for noodling.
