My dad needs a battery saw, never had one so been looking at them the last few weeks. From what I have read, the Stihl MSA 160/200 and Echo 58v are the best two options. The 160/200 is going to cost me $620-$650 while I can get the Echo for $360-$400. The pro husky's costs more than the Stihl so they are out.

The big difference I see other than price is the weight, 10.6/11.1lbs for the Stihls, 14.4lbs for the Echo.

RedBack 120Volt battery power ?!
Might be a little heavier due to the big battery pack though.

Fairly affordable too.

I want an electric saw and will soon need one.
Reserve power is most important to me. Used one with 58V and 16" lp. Ran good. Don't remember the name :hmmm:

More input please :icon_popcorn:

The Echo has power, but is a heavy pig, and made cheaply, also has an oddball chain. Ran a Stihl battery saw at a gtg "forget which model" much higher quality, lighter for sure, but not quite the power.

I'm not sure if you have looked into them but I am very happy with the 20volt Dewalt. It's lightweight and has good power. But I have not ran any other battery saw so I don't know how it compares to the saws you mentioned.

The Stihl I was around had 1/4" NK chain...also oddball. It also does not put up with any abuse. I also did not care for the flavor of quick tension chain. The adjuster was pretty complicated and the owner had it all out of sorts.

I have not been around an Echo.

This Husky did ok considering the bar was buried! @psuiewalsh could give some feedback on it.

My BIL bought the Stihl one and he loves it. Uses it for clearing mountain laurel and rhododendron in his mountain property.

I bought my wife the smaller Dewalt Chainsaw & weed wacker. Very Impressed with both! Looked at Stihl & Husky, but didn't want to spend that much.

Don, you are the man!!! My wife would stab me if I bought her a chainsaw or weed wacker, battery operated or otherwise.
