Alright I'm starting my first build pretty soon, I have acquired a free Husky 340 that was straight gassed. Decided to build it as a 346 as I'd like to learn about building a saw, plus adding a Husky to my collection. So far I have a new OEM cylinder kit, base gasket and chain on the way from HL Supply. ParagonBuilder supplied me with the riser, and I just ordered a 372 intake clamp and 346 muffler bracket from eBay. ParagonBuilder will be supervising and helping me out as he lives just up the road from me. Photos and videos to come as the build progresses.

What's this riser you speak of
Since the 340 is a clamshell saw, the bearing caps are built in to the cylinder. The riser acts as a bearing cap while allowing the cylinder to bolt on. It acts as the top of the crankcase.

Very good, you will enjoy it, I have built one for everyone in my family. Upgrade the oil pump to the 350 adjustable one while your at it. Makes a great little truck/trimming saw.

Not sure if it's the same as the 350 but I've been using the pump, drive and rim clutch from the 455-460 ranchers. Direct bolt on and it makes a nice improvement in oiling. Rim setup is a big upgrade too.

Anyone have a recommendation for a replacement carb? Was cleaning up the small parts and also took a look at why the carb wouldn't return all the time and the return spring on the throttle plate/shaft is broken. [emoji3525]

That spring, 537176101, is only cost about $3-$4.
