Ive seen tons of reviews for the Stihl Mtronic but nothing long term. I’m currently runnig a 362cm built by MMWS. I love the saw. I’m still not sold on the longevity of the mtronic carburetor though. I was a diesel tech long before changing careers. I appreciate the reliability in tools. Chainsaws are tools. I know the HP is basically the same in stock form between both saws, but after it has been ported, and tuned which saw would you choose? I understand the weight is approximately 1.3 or so pounds less with the 462. I’m not talking about Power to weight ratio. Just want to know which reigns king after a little work is done to it. I’m also curious how well the mtronic holds up over time. Anyone have any experience comparing the two?

I’ve only ran them ported, 461 was ahead if ya ask me.

But the 462 is so light, feels like a 60cc saw with 5 cube power. Tough choice

I plan to eventually get a 462 and run a 20" bar on it. its replacing my 60cc saws. I think the 461 would outperform it with a 25-28 setup and i might prefer a 461 if i was running it for that size wood bucking and stumping.
a mastermind 461 with 28 inch bar this was just as fast as my mmws solo 665/7910 in this piece of wood the 461 has great torque. big shoes for the 462 to fill

here was my mmws solo 665/7910 in the same piece of wood was not fully broken in in the video where the 461 looks well broken in still an excellent comparison and shows how good the torque is on a 461 great saws!!!!!!

I am in the same boat in a way. I have 2 Mtronic saws, both MMWS ported. I also have a 661, 362, and 241 at work. The only one I have had issues with is the 661. It had the older carb/fuel solenoid, and was replaced under warranty. We also have a 461 at work, and I have a MMWS 461. Stock vs. ported is a HUGE difference. If the same gains can be made with 462, I think it would be close. I would like to see Redbull's videos as well.

Stihl should have labeled the 462 a 442 to replace the 441.
Then release a 462 that will outperform the 461.
Just imagine the new 462 with 77cc vs 71cc.

On the above vid, Scott did a great job with both saws.
The 461 in that vid screams just as fast as a stock 462!

I will take a stock 462 over a 461 for a few reasons.

1-Weight
2-Filtration, I hate cleaning a filter every tank and a 461 isn’t sipping fuel
3- AV

Now you want to port it and there is no replacement for displacement, ported 461’s are monsters.

A saw for felling, bucking, filling my dump trailer for firewood. I’ll take the 462 all day.

cookies, times and fun 461.

I’ve had both...

Here is another stock vs stock with 20" and 28".

461 wins here time wise. But wood is soft....IMO I think the 462 has more torque stock than the 461. Which is why I think it won in the 28" stock vs stock in big oak cant video.
