Hi all sorry to revisit but just wondering if there is any later news on this mtronic hot start or not start issue
Mine has just started doing it
Took it to my stihl shop and they ran a diagnostic surprise can't fault the machine but the worrying thing was diagnostic said there no non starts just 400 succesful starts
Only 18 hours on machine and surprise just out of 2yr warranty
Saw starts easy first thing then after a bit of work let it sit for 10 mins can't start . Have to leave it for half hour then usually starts
By the way I am in australia can't find any info on this over here and my stihl shop has no idea either
Has muffler mod thanks to the guys on this forum
May have to get a standard muffler if tech guys get involved
Thanks all

Sounds like a heat soak issue. Try to keep it running when using it in hot conditions. Hold the throttle open to restart if it occurs but try to avoid it in the first place. Heat soak makes one think there is something wrong with their saw when the saw is perfectly fine.

Thanks guys
Shop did reset
My stihl shop has tried to contact stihl rep for Australia
Apparently there is only 1 rep for the whole country so might take a while
Will keep using it until I've heard from them or until I can't start it 1 day then I'll run it over with my truck
Cheers

Restart on fast idle or in the dangerous WOT position with the saw on the ground. Yes pull the trigger. This is not a safe way to start a saw and should only be done if your confident in your ability to do it.

Yeh thanks mate

Does seem a little dangerous but hey what's the worst that can happen
Definitely confident in my ability
