The flywheel key is only there to locate the factory timing, lots of saws runnin out there without fw keys. Is the fw damaged? The taper of the crank and torque of the fw nut hold the fw in place.
How do i find the timing then. dumb ass me thought the keyway was seperate tried driving broken piece out and keyway is cast into flywheel i need to clean it up with a rat tail file now

Use a small punch and make a dot on the FW in the center of where the key was before you grind it out. Then just line that up with the center of the keyway. Put nut on and torque to 25 ft/lbs. Voila.
