I got a new carb solenoid and a crankcase gasket, seals, and bolt set for my MS261CM when I sent to Randy D for porting and machine work for more power.

My saw did not need them. The solenoid at discount was $23 and gasket, seals and bolt set was about $20 plus shipping.

Both way below list price.

All $40 TOTAL
delivered by Priority mail in cont US,
PMT BY PALPAL.
I will return to my supplier if no one wants them this week.

Is this version 1 or version 2 saw? Are the parts the same?
Any pics of the solenoid? Is it the black one?

As it was stated in the past here and there, the white one is a improved version compared to the black one. The sealing area inside the valve is on the white valve made of metal. Therefore it is better protected against wear from fine dirt partices against the black one with a sealing of rubber inside. In combination with the newer updated finer fuel filter the lifespan is increased. So if you have a machine in witch you have to use the original black one, use the updated pickup body (fuel filter) too. In some carburetors both valves can be used, but not on all. Which one can be used depends on the control unit firmware. So it is always a good idea to talk with the dealer if a replacement part is needed. Mostly, with the valve it came from the factory, the same one has to be used as a replacement part.

OK. So now I am even more confused. I have a 261cm version 1. I can only use the black solenoid? White will not work?

You can use the white valve in that saw, but it is not valid for every saw model. It has to be checked before you buy a replacement part.

Thank you for the clarification.

I told everyone to check with Stihl, just like I did when I got it.

Stihl dealer told me what I told buyer.

If the potential buyer had checked with Stihl giving his saw sn all this “fluff“ would not be here.

These are brand new in box/packs from Stihl at below market price. Just like the other stuff I have sold here.

If you or anyone need “help” with determining if they will work perhaps you should pay FULL retail prices and get your parts from a full service dealer.

Now back to the regular scheduled programming.

You're sort of an abrasive guy.
Just sayin....
