What are you looking at for squish? That should tell you if it's a go or no-go. If there's room and you try and and don't like it, it's easy enough to go back

Myself and im no pro i will run as little as .015 on a 50cc and under as low as .018 on 60-50cc and no less then .020 on 60cc and up. I dont mess with saws much bigger then 70cc so my sample size on them is very small. Myself i measure squish assembled with gasket being sure to cycle piston on solder several times till i cant feel it touch anymore. Measure it disassemble saw measure gasket do the math. Then assemble dry no sealer recheck squish the same way as first time. Then decide if i need to sand squish or make a very thin gasket.

Next question.. along side my 660, would you keep a just a nearly new 2018 365Xt or sell it and keep both a 2011 clean ms241 and clean 2009 ms361...

I cannot keep all!!

I love this 241, I love my 365, heck I love them all [emoji1751]‍[emoji3603]

There's people out there running alot less squish than they think, for years and without an issue.

Test a saw with .033 solder by rocking the flywheel back and forth over TDC and solder through plug hole over the pin.

Then repeat with .024 solder.

Then take a drill, add a 1/4" extension and a socket that fits the flywheel crank nut, use .024 solder, and spin it over for 30 full seconds at high speed. Decellerate slowly so the nut doesnt loosen. Recheck squish.

You wont believe what you will find. I routinely find .005-.009 differences, so many builds i released at .022 squish were really .016 all along.

I've changed how I do things now because of this. It also explains why the hell my machining would be off for squish, and it drove me nuts.

Don't you think centrifugal force is giving you a false reading?

Under load of compression things would be "different" no?

So I kept the 365 and the 241. The 365 will soon be a 372 and the 241 can start with a timing advance. How many degrees are we looking at??

Cheers

Mine is .029-.030 completely stock. That’s twisting .032 solder through the plug hole with my ancient caliper.

How thick is a factory base gasket?
