I always find the KS jugs a much lighter alloy than the Mahle too, but yeah the plating into the ports is a *b-word sometimes
Lighter in color and maybe weight. Very stain resistant, can generally tell one from a mile away.

The alloy is much harder though. Plating could be as well, not sure.

I know which on my money’s on for the more technically advanced alloy, and it damn sure Ain’t Mahle. I’d go as far as to say the alloy KS used is probably still high end by today’s standards

I got this 026 apart today. I got some numbers 99/122-3/70

I'm not sure what's going on with the piston. I didn't get a pic of it today, but I ended up with thisimage.jpeg

Well i beleave the pto side oil seal was leaking as well, at first I thought it was just the oil pump. I should have tried to do a pressure vac test.
Now after phaffing with bearings, (the first time for me) flushing them as they seemed gritty, and not getting anywhere, I’ve decided to get some new bearings.

I guess in the end it should be a good little saw. I will have a look around to find some numbers for a bit of porting, I,m guessing 70 on the intake should be about 78/80"
I’ve gutted the muffler and drilled a hole. I just need to tack weld the deflector on.

The hole saw was 21mm , it will be louder than normal

You rockin a black light on the work bench?

Ahh, I see, it does give a diff colour, blue-ish. it’s a 12v LED light, it’s ment to be a cool white light in my allotment shed.

But on another note the cases with new bearings and seals have just been p&v tested

I can’t say I like the smell from the cases in the oven, lol, the steel plate was put in so I could check the temp before I put the cases in.

I checked the carb, I thought it was a 194 but it’s a 394, (wt) I lifted the metering leaver a tad, as it looked like it needed it.

The carb L 1 turn H 3/4 turn
As it says on the side, I didn’t have my taco  It was not really 4stroking I did 5 screaming cuts with a 16” an new 325 chain and buried deep.. then it started to smoke, like it was hot, very hot.:firedevil:
The saw is only lightly ported and no muff mod timing is adv 20thou off key.
In reality, it was slightly lean, I got home and looked up the plug colour. I thought it was the elecrode but I should have been looking at the rim, :BangHead: it is no colour/gray-white

It could have been worse thou, next time will be different. I will taco‘ it and not scream it..
I’ve got the cylinder almost cleaned up.. And I did get another pistonlast time,, just in case !.

And the oil was 50:1 green stuff from Stihl, that some one said was better than the red Stihl stuff.
It’s now been made up to 40:1. Which I should have done in the first place.

I will see if I can up the vid. It will make you giggle

I’ve used the black gasket before, with no probs, I do think it was a combo of , just a tad to little “cr@p” oil and a little lean, and me just givin it some hard wood to chew, for too long

Wait for the two vids:oops::rolleyes::(;););), I’ve shortened them both by a bout a min each,

Cheers I’ve fixed it today. Yeh I tried 1.5 turns out on both screws. I had problems starting and keep it running.

I'm taking this one slowly, I used more oil and a taco. At first a few blips and a tick over switched it off and cool, then repeat, a few times, I did a cut well rich, then turned the H in 1/8 , that alone made it jump up about 1.5/2k in the cut.

I never had time to check the plug as I had to tidy up and go out.
