MS 462 and fast tach?

I got a new 462c and can't get the fast tach to work with it am I missing something?
I have had no issues with it and my other saws

Is the fasttach showing a fault?
I know on some saws if the tach and plug wire is too close it spazzes out.

It's just flickering and won't read wot

You have a MS462 C with m-tronic? M-tronic has a 2nd pair of poles on the flywheel to power the m-tronic system. It`s possible that this confuses your tach.

After taking the cover off and holding it right above the spark plug it looks like around 12500
It's still pretty speratic
I don't know if I trust it
It's the non mtronic adjustable carb model

Maybe the tach needs new batteries? I also have a slow cheap wired tach I keep around if the FT gives me a problem.
