just put a 8-pin sprocket on my mmws 461 after adding 2nd. exhaust port and put 25 inch bar on saw and put in the wood and was pleased with the torque that it still has. any thought or suggestions?

I only use 8 and occasionally a 9pin.

Few stock saws are faster with a 8pin but I don't run stock saws. :)

I do use a 7 falling, it's easier on my feeble body.

461 is a fantastic saw. I've thought about buying one but I've still got big saw syndrome and it's hard to kick.
Another 5 years maybe.

Pics, or it didn't happen! (Never mind you were pleased, we want to be pleased)

I had an 8 pin on my ported 460/046-D, and it pulled a 24" bar fine, but I did not notice it slow at all when I went to 7 pin, and it has more torque (harder to pinch) an will pull a 36" no problem.

For cookie cutting the 8 may be better, on a real work saw, I prefer the 7. I think I tend to be a little heavy handed at times.

I will get a video when my son in law gets home.

Due to my abilities 7vs8 is a wash in the video. However I like the 8 better with this 20", I'll throw the 28" or 32" bar on it and redo this when I have a bigger log.

Turn the volume down!

The saw is sitting right at 225PSI cold, timing advanced, dual port muffler, squish of 0.030. Exhaust port is around 101 degree, transfers polished but after squish was cut, the numbers was sitting about right.

Dogging in adds a lot of outside variables. Time the cuts without so you get a true picture of what your saw and chain are actually doing.
