Not sure if the "why" is the same for everyone?

But for me, it's because you can't walk into a stihl dealer and buy brand new 064 anymore.

If 064's were still at dealers available new, and sat side by side, with a 461, and they weighed the same, but the 064 had more power then yes, I'd walk out with a new 064.

That is not the case thou. So a 461 it is.

064 is a 30 year old saw, yes it can be rebuilt, no matter what you do to a 064, it's still a clapped out 30 year old saw, and not new anymore. Nothing like a brand new saw.
But you can indeed get new oem parts for them at least here in WA you still can.

I just feel like saw companies have gone backwards, I mean they had a 85cc saw at just over 14lbs with a carb, that was a winning combo, now you can't get close to that, same as the husky 288, that was a great saw then they decided to add more moving parts and make a less reliable saw then they had to start with, just don't make sense to me. Imagine if it ran like that right outta the box,, :BangHead:.
And we talkin' dependable btw.

Now it's a dependable beast after the mods! Always starts in one to three pulls no matter what the condition! Before the mods I was contemplating lighting the oxy/ acet torch and making a pile of slag out of it!:flamethrower2: I am glad I didn't!

But how long did it stay at it's light weight? Just like the 044 it wasn't built heavy enough to begin with.

The 064 was great power to weight, but I do not trust co published weights … from any of the companies. And there were several versions of 044 / 064 /066.

I have seen that Stihl said the 044 was 13 lbs … I think the 044 was the lightest 70 cc saw, but I call 13 lbs BS.

FYI, the 3rd fastest saw in Mason's Vid (that Jeff posted) was my Asian 660! So if you guys want to talk performance to cost … (no port work done to it).

My CFB Hyrbrid is far lighter than a 7900/7910, and my MOFO 460 about the same weight, and I'll compare performance of any of them any time.

But what about a 461 that moobs got his digits into, how does that fair to a ported 460.

They are nice, but I had a MMWS 460 and have a MOFO 460 and I don't think the 460s lack anything that the 461s have.

They are both nice, but if you have one, you don't need the other.

Hybrid is a great saw but with long bar the 7910 is gonna take the win, for the same cost as your Asian 660 I can find and rebuild a oem oaw and have complete confidence in it when I am running it, just how I see it.

I will have to do that when I get a chance. It is a 12 mm saw, so not as light as the 10s, but it is a good deal lighter than the 460. Big difference in crank and case (but bearings are the same).
