After checking shipping costs on a couple of my bars to the eastern US, I may have to rethink my prices... it seems that a 20" bar is gonna cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $25 just to ship it. If anyone is interested in a particular bar, let me know, and I will come up with a reasonable price based on shipping costs. I'm not trying to get rich off this stuff, but i would prefer to not lose money. Sorry for the inconvenience.

FYI, Fedex for a 5lb package 26" x 6" x 1" from California to New England is around $16.50. The bar should fit in a USPS large flat rate box for $18.85.

Yeah, shipping bars is not cheap. Maybe @Jon1212 has better suggestions as he has sold tons of bars.

Unfortunately, I live in a small town... the only option I have here is the PO, or to drive an hour to ship UPS or FedEx. I've also never seen a flat rate box large enough for a chainsaw bar, but I can check again.

If you go to usps.com and do the "Calculate a Price" option, select flat rate and you will see that there are 2 large flat rate boxes. The dimensions of the one you would want is 23-11/16" x 11-3/4" x 3" which should allow a 25" total length bar to fit in kitty corner.

Offer a discount for multiple bars....that way the shipping per bar is less. Also, wrap it tight in cardboard. I end up with a double layer on one side, and a single on the other.

or switch your pricing to "buyer pays shipping from zip 12345" so they can figure out the cost themselves.. :)

if you take payment through paypal, paypal will offer you discounted USPS rates after payment as well.

...there are ways to get around the payment part, too, but they're not consistent or always easy... :)

roughly the same discounts as ebay sellers get (through pitney bowes)
