So how many here have the bits and pieces to build a Husqvarna 238-246 series saw?? Might just have to build another one. THINK there is some 238 cylinders laying around. I have for those who need them, rings NOS for the 238's BTW. Hard to find a piston though! Just the reason for looking at these other options is availability for those who want to repeat things....that Dolmar ps 35 looks like a candidate. The 336 is a clam shell right? What about Echo options?

I believe I have everything to put my Dads 242 back together. The PS-35 definitely has my interest though, as does the Echo CS 490 and 501P, possible 346 killer?

490 is a de-tuned 500P which has been replaced with the 501P. The 501 probably has the most potential but cost the most money. Not sure where the PS-35 stacks up but I am definitely intrigued.

I'm going to be starting to piece my 242 back together as soon as the first round of parts I ordered come in.....but I'm pretty sure most folks here are well aware of that :D

I'm planning to try and open up the stock muffler a bit, a BG delete and possibly a little bit of minor grinding on it...mainly give it a wee bit more intake. All depends on what the numbers shake out to be after the BG delete and with the piston I got for it. I don't plan to go crazy with it.

The ps-35 gives up approx 15cc to the echo 501 sx and the echo is a pro grade saw. The ps -35 is only a little guy :)
