Are the Milwaukee (or others) inspection cams any good? How clear are they?

Milwaukee is very clear. Used by many plumbers. I have seen them in person look inside pipe for clogged drains. Real clear pics.
Not sure how expensive they are though.

The Milwaukee ones are around $110-$150 or so. The problem I have is I have all 18V Milwaukee tools and it looks like the camera is only 12V. That means I cannot buy a bare tool

For the price that looks good. I had not thought about the cable not being semi rigid

I am wondering about some 11-14 gauge wire taped to it. You could bend it in a stiff location that will hold. I understand that after awhile you will need to replace the wire. I also understand that the wire will cause chaffing. You could wrap the wire in electrical tape. At the end of the day though we have to realize we are talking about a toss away item

Tree climbing + bore scope + scorched Earth policy with squirrels.... You can run but you can't hide tree rats ..... I should keep myself entertained this summer

@Bill G, what model Milwaukee scope are you looking at buying? I use one at work to do inspections and the one we have (not sure model) has a bendable "rigid" optic. It's like a flexible conduit, probably resembles more like the old flexible shop lamps for the work bench. The cord is protected and wont get damaged. Unfortunately, the one I have used would not fit through a spark plug hole. Maybe they offer some that will? I would not buy one like that for that reason because I would be most interested in fitting it through a plug hole. Otherwise it is a nice tool for inspecting pipes, has a fairly good image if the optic is close enough to the item you want to view. If you can't get the optic close enough then it will get grainy and you will lose color and it becomes black and white. The main advantage to that one is you can see stuff clearly up to ~10" away from the optic and the rigid but flexible cord allows it to hold a shape. The one shown on eBay will not be rigid or hold itself up. It's flexible but you may need to use something like a copper strand of wife if you need to feed it down a pipe 2-3'. The down side of those type of boroscopes is you need the optic to get close to the object. Anything farther than 2-3" away and it will show a black screen. This type of optic is best for inspecting cylinders through plug holes though. Because if the relatively small optic indications will appear larger than they really are due to lack of size reference. For the price of $10-15 you can go wrong IMO. We have one similar but with a movable optic that is like $5K, takes videos, pictures, has adjustable lights and the whole 10 yards.
