Hell, that makita might be pulling through that Locust faster than my MS261 would. In fairness, the 261 is running 3/8" chain and might be a tad faster with .325" but I like the durability ad flexibility of 3/8" in Hedge...

I'd take that challenge. Lmao. If I can't pull it off well I'll upgrade to this saw.

42 mm. I don't think so. I tore back apart the makita tonight. I'm going to raise the trans on it and drop the intake. 78 or 80 havnt decided yet. Aim for 107/123/78-80. The makita although holding less rpm seems to hold what rpm it has just a tad better. And the one thing I want to maintain is a great power band and easy usability. So if in the end I have one saw faster but one a little more user friendly. I will pick the more user friendly saw. I don't need to build the fastest saw on the block. Lol.

Grab the piston specs Carl let's look at swaps.
How about the carb zama?

What numbers does a 6400 have. They went 6port for a reason. Where they staggered before?
I believe if you could find an overall length piston that's just a little longer and has a taller crown height you would open up some options. Not sure what come is on this saw as my 10mm tester isn't working right but I'm guessing 180ish. If ya could get that up to 200+ I do believe you could get it to maintain a higher rpm better. That's just thought though. No testing involved. Lol.
