I would never buy that safety chain, but for free, I'll use them. Lol

Good stuff for plunging, as mentioned in the other thread to avoid pinched kerf. Nice thing is, you can dr. those rakes on your new vise (vice) lol

Used a lot of it. Cuts fine for most firewood type tasks if sharpened correctly.

The top angle on this Stihl chain is 30*. I just used that for now. Should I use something different?
25*?

Choose the angles that you would for any chain. But adjust the back tail of the low kickback bumper when adjusting the depth gauges.

Some people will suggest grinding / cutting off these tie strap / side link bumpers completely; but I like the low kickback feature, especially with volunteers. This style of bumper will reduce the chip carrying capacity of the chain in longer lengths (more than the newer drive link / center bumpers), but usually not a problem with 16 - 20 inch bars. Could be more of an issue with larger diameter wood, but will cut smoother in smaller wood. Will reduce bore cutting speed, but not prevent bore cutting.

I just meant if you have to file them, you will have a great view and nice level plane to be sure they are low enough.
OK. Thanks. Like I said, I am open to all suggestions to help file better. I only work my saws, I don't race them. So, simple is better for me. Lol
These vises are awesome for sharpening. For 35 years, I have been sharpening with thw chain on the bar. Lol
This vise is like night and day difference. [emoji106]
